Then there was Xanga.....

The sun is about to set on the five-year rain of Facebook/MySpace....

So today, there is Blogspot (aka ripoff of Xanga)

It has been years since I have spilled my guts on a virtual database and I can't believe I'm picking the habit back up. Since when do people care so much about the details of their peers' lives? You remember when Facebook first started posting what your friends were doing on your homepage? You remember how everyone kept saying that it just got a heck of a lot easier to stalk those who we secretly had a crush on? Well blogging is just that, but on crack!!!

Oh facebook, how you took the obvious and turned it into reality. I remember back in the Xanga days, people would acknowledge your existence by "subscribing" to your page. That really makes me wonder some; that mere idea evolved into what we know as "the friend request" and now, I really see it devolving back into "subscribing to page".  Am i wrong? Will Facebook/Myspace overcome what no internet fad has ever in the past? I suppose people will always desire what is different from the norm, even if its roots lead back to a trend of yesterday.
